The Kinkaid debate team competed over the weekend at Langham Creek High School alongside 47 schools from throughout the Houston area. Competing in policy, Lincoln-Douglas, and public forum, the team found great success and reached the finals in two out of the three events.
Sam Segal '18 placed 1st out of 85 in Lincoln-Douglas. Dani Knobloch '19 and Amy Ho '19 placed 2nd in policy, losing a close final round on a 2-1 decision. Spencer Powers '20 and first year Bennett Mach '21 placed 3rd in policy after making it to the semi-finals. Shreya Mehta '20 placed in the top 32 in Lincoln-Douglas. Lastly, first years Megan Anand '22 and Jessica Liu '22 placed in the top 8 (quarter finals).
Prior to this weekend's competition, a smaller group competed at Cypress Woods High School. Christian Gipson '19 and Camila Vicens '20 placed in the top 8 (quarterfinals) in policy. Camila was also awarded the 4th overall speaker.
