This past weekend, 28 Kinkaid students traveled to Austin to compete in the 20th annual Central Texas Model United Nations Conference. Kinkaid was one of 18 schools that brought students to debate and discuss issues of human trafficking, women's rights, education, terrorism, diminishing resources and critical historical events.
Kinkaid Model UN students received four awards (this is the most that the Kinkaid Model U.N. team has ever won at one conference). All the participating students did well, but a special recognition goes out to the Kinkaid student award winners:
- Selim Baysal - Outstanding Delegate Award for representing the French Empire as Andre Massena in the Triple Joint Crisis Committee of the Napoleonic War of the Third Coalition
- Dylan Rosenfield - Outstanding Delegate Award for representing Syria in the Syrian National Coalition Committee
- Katie Wallis - Best Writer Award in the Press Corps
- Dean Taylor - Honorable Mention Award for representing Lebanon in the Syrian National Coalition Committee
Congratulations to these students, and an additional thank you to Kinkaid teacher Mr. Gomes for joining the team as a third chaperone.
