Kinkaid Senior Nathan Lo recently won a top award at the Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition held at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Kinkaid student Nathan Lo recently won the 2nd place prize of the Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition for his cello performance.  The competition was held at Stephen F. Austin State University on February 1st, 2014.

About the competition:

The George and Peggy Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition celebrates its seventh year by refocusing its vision towards cultivating the young generation of musicians who aspire to become future music performers and educators. Open to string players ages 15-18, the 2014 Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition will be held February 1, 2014 on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. The competition holds the highest standards in artistry and performance, attracting musicians from all around the world to East Texas. As an annual event, the competition alternates between piano and strings, bringing rising artists from both disciplines to compete and perform for lucrative prizes and future engagements.

The Schmidbauer Competition continues to serve as one of the highest benchmarks in the competition circuit and is a catalyst for launching successful careers. Past winners have continued their careers to perform with professional artists and orchestras all over the world. Supporting the future of young musicians while offering concerts at the highest level to the East Texas community continues to be the mission of the Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition.
