On November 8, a group of ten Kinkaid Middle School students auditioned for chairs in the ATSSB Region 23/27 Band. Regions 23/27 contain both public and private schools in Houston and extending all the way out west of Houston to Sealy/Bellville. This year's audition was the largest and hardest in the history of ATSSB, with over 300 students auditioning for chairs.
Seb Seager ranked 1st chair out of 50 on flute, which means he will not only participate in the Region band this weekend, but will lead the flute section.
Nicholas Cox won a chair in the Region Band on trumpet, beating more than 40 other auditionees.
Darius Goodman, Joseph Wagnon, May Moorefield, Jeffers Shaper and Daniel King all placed high within their rankings (in the upper 1/3 for their sections) but were a rank or two away from winning a chair in the band. Rachel Reed placed within the top half of the flute auditions. Niki Munsif and Camila Vicens also beat at least 20 other auditionees from the Region.
